Dustin Gordon - Now

  • Exploring permaculture principles as a hobby in a from-scratch fruit forest.

  • Believing that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, I work in a little bit of preventative maintenance in the form of physical therapy exercises every day.

  • The dividends paid on the time investment are undeniable. I leverage the Headspace app as my accountability partner and guide.

  • I now walk at my desk for the better part of my working day and cannot imagine going back.

This should have been an obvious one. All the stories from teachers and high performers, the basic principles of oxygenation and blood flow, the link between movement and mindset… But it was learning from Bill Bryson how the act of walking turns your legs into secondary and tertiary hearts, that finally tipped the scales.

  • Mellow most mornings, in a Strala kind of way. Moving the body, exploring how it feels (not stretching).

Intense some days enjoying the heat and challenge, balance of breath, challenge to mind and body.

Slow and deep for just a few minutes winding down in bed at the end of the day.

  • Sharpening the mind, thinking in new ways, enjoying time with friends and family, and so much more… Games are a part of my everyday.

Beach volleyball (until death do us part), board games (Wingspan being a current favorite), hide and seek, fix the (insert noun here)*.

*I love fixing, tinkering, imaging, and experimenting with creative solutions.

  • A guilty pleasure, to be sure and by far one of my favorite indulgences. For learning and entertainment, the best books in my experience do both.
